What the Water Kept

I wandered

down pathways of stone

eroded by rivers long passed,

picking up small tokens

along the way.

I watched the water rush,

sediments of blue and worn ash,

reminding me of Her.

Cold as ice.

Sharper still.

Cutting at my ankles,

tendrils of temperature

dragging me back into now.

And no matter how quietly

I let the stillness swallow me,

the morning moves,

the birds sing,

the mountains watch.

I disobey my own structure.

Une connaissance et un désir

qui m'appartiennent uniquement.

Drops of Jupiter.

Nothing more.
