Savannah lingered in the doorway a moment longer, looking back toward the porch.
"You win,"
she said, rolling her eyes to no one in particular.
"I'm going back to bed."
Marley glanced up as Savannah crawled beneath the quilts once more, circled twice against her ribs, and settled into a warm, vibrating loaf.
The room still smelled faintly of coffee.
